TISDALE, SASKATCHEWAN — The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League completed the 2006/2007 born player Draft on Friday and twelve players with Tisdale Trojan ties were selected in the Draft, including two first round picks and four of the first 36 players taken.

11 members of the 2022/23 Trojans were selected while Trey Penrod, a former Trojan, was also taken with the sixty seventh overall selection by the Yorkton Terriers.

In total, 96 players were chosen in the Draft on Friday in addition to SJHL teams being able to auto protect hometown players.

Forward Matthew Van Blaricom (Humboldt - #6 overall) and Defenceman Simon Martin (Humboldt - #11 overall) were picked in the First Round, giving the Trojans two players taken in the opening round of the Draft.

The remainder of the draft saw nine players from the 2022/23 team claimed by SJHL clubs.

Peyton Kostiuk was selected by Humboldt, taken off the board with the 11th pick in the third round (#35 overall).

In his rookie SMAAAHL season Kostiuk finished with 12 points (9G, 3A) in 39 contests. Kostiuk was also a member of Team Saskatchewan at the 2021 WHL Cup.

Forward Carter Ralston was the next Trojans player selected. The Humboldt Broncos chose Ralston in the third round (#36), after his season of 21 points (12G, 9A) in 44 appearances. Ralston is also a draft pick of the Regina Pats.

A pair of defencemen and one forward were the next draft selections from the Trojans in the fourth round.

Kale Margolis was selected in the fourth round (#40 overall) by the Estevan Bruins, who also have former Trojan Keagon Little on their Roster. After recovering from an early season injury Margolis put on a performance that included four markers and ten helpers.

The Yorkton Terriers selected Luc Bourdon, with the #43 overall pick in the fourth round. Bourdon, a Swift Current Broncos draft pick, registered 8 points (1G, 7A) in 44 regular season contests.

At #45 overall in the fourth round, Defenceman Turner Krahn was selected by the Kindersley Klippers after recording one helper in an injury shortened 21 game season.

Forward Dayton Reschny concluded the prolific draft day for Tisdale, adding his name to the newest list of Nipawin Hawks prospects in the sixth round (#61 overall). Reschny recorded 21 points (10G-11A) in 34 regular season games in the CSSHL and also added two helpers in three playoff games.
